Overview:
The DSC Armory's first entry into the Battlemech industry
came in 3014 with the WCT-2C Wildcat. Designed as a
utility mech more to prove the viability of the Armory than a
combat unit, the Wildcat eventually became a huge sales
success and is the most widely produced Armory mech to
date.

Capabilities:
Borrowing several concepts from the Stinger and Wasp
designs, the Wildcat has become a versatile utility mech.
DSCA engineers wanted a slightly larger 'mech that could
fulfill a number of roles, but primarily serve as a backwater
garrison unit. As a garrison mech, it would most likely not
be accompanied by many other specialized units,
therefore, designers attempted to create a versatile and
sturdy design.

Mounting a larger Core Tek 175 engine, the Wildcat can
be pushed a bit faster than its counterparts, the Stinger,
Wasp, and Commando. This allows for a bit more flexibility
in deployment and places it between those machines and
the Locust for sheer speed. The Wildcat lacks the agility
of mounting jump jets, primarily because there was not a
compatable jump jet model available at the time of design.
Engineers chose to forgo the added maneuverability the
add a more varied weapons package and beef up the
armor.

Armor is another point where the Wildcat stands out. With
5.5 tons of DSC Standard plate, which was experimental
at the time of design, the Wildcat has more lasting power
than many other mechs of its size.

Mounting a variety of weapons, DSCA engineers hoped to
give the Wildcat multi-role capabilities. The main weapon
is an arm mounted Martell Medium Laser, a staple weapon
for many mechs of its class. Opposite the medium laser is
a Zippo Flamer which is intended to allow the Wildcat to
operate in the same capacity as a 'mech such as the
Firestarter or give it tactical advantages of creating fire
and smoke. Rounding out the weapons package are a
pair of SperryBrowning machinguns and Magna Mk I Small
Lasers, intended to serve in the anti-personnel role.

Deployment:
The Wildcat has seen service in the armies of all
Successor States as well as many smaller mercenaries. It
is generally relegated to rear-area duty and garrison on
back-water worlds. It is commonly found filling to role of
security duty in urban environments.

Variants:
WCT-2E
Small Lasers and Machine Guns are replaced by a Bical
SRM-2 launcher on each torso with 1 ton of ammo in the
center torso. This model is intended to engage larger
targets such as vehicles and battlemechs.
